VANDERBILT
COLLEGE HALLS, NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE EOA has completed the programming and conceptual design phase for the 335,000 square foot college hall complex with an additional 69,000 square feet of underground parking. The design work to date confirms the space and function needs, explores site placement and massing, reaches a consensus on building layout and volume, and provides initial design and budgeting for fund raising. As set forth by the Vanderbilt University, the ‘complex’ will ultimately bring sophomores, juniors and seniors together in a shared living experience that has a sense of home, where they are encouraged to exchange ideas and continue to discover who they are. Each College Hall will become a microcosm; a smaller neighborhood setting within the larger university. The architectural style will relate to the Collegiate Gothic style of nearby Kirkland Hall, Alumni Hall. The design will acknowledge the site’s position as the first impression of Vanderbilt University once arriving on campus. |
