INTERIOR RENOVATIONS TO THE CUSTOMS HOUSE, NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE
This 45,000 square foot interior renovation project included remodeling and expansion of the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts, the U.S. Sixth District Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Trustee Department in the historic Customs House. The project entailed extensive architectural millwork and conservation of historic materials as well as structural modifications to accommodate two new courtrooms. The primary design challenge was to adapt this landmark building to suit strict design criteria as set forth by the General Services Administration. Spaces were designed with meticulous attention to the details which respond to the architectural significance of this stately, enduring, and historic structure.
