INGLEWOOD ELEMENTARY
SCHOOL, NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE
This 600-student replacement facility houses Kindergarten
through 5th grade in a 66,962 sq. ft. structure featuring
a large playroom/auditorium space and extensive use of daylighting
techniques. Creatively incorporating one of the most recent
wing additions to the original school into the new plan provided
a cost-effective "green" attitude as well as an educational
experience for the students to observe. Design charrette sessions
were held with faculty and students for input and to increase
their sense of ownership in the process. Inspired by a student's
sketch, "Eddie's Tower" transformed into a stained glass window
at the Media Center's Reading Room and became the central
design element. Awards.
