THE
HENDERSONVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY This 38,500 square foot public library is located in the Indian Lake commercial development area and sited adjacent to a public park and citywide greenway. The facility design is focused on the connection to the park and greenway by including upper and lower outdoor reading porches as well as multiple windows to maximize daylight and views. Green design features include geothermal heat exchange heating/ cooling system, daylight sensors for stack lighting, low voc paints, recycled and natural materials which include carpet, linoleum, slate and hardwood. The library is planned to accommodate a total of 125,000 volumes for use by children, young adults and adults. One large meeting room with a capacity of 191 in theatre style seating and 102 seated at round banquet tables (plus 6 sitting at the head of the room at two rectanglular tables) will also be available to the community with a nearby catering kitchen and pre-function space. |
