SEVIER PARK COMMUNITY CENTER, NASHVILLE,
TENNESSEE
The new Sevier Park Community Center is sited at the Southeast corner of historic Sevier Park located at 3021 Lealand Lane in Nashville, TN. Designed to meet LEED Silver requirements, the center’s green features include a green roof, pervious parking pavers, rain gardens and the use of recycled materials. In order to minimize site disturbance and save existing mature trees, the building is located on the site of the circa 1950’s existing center and parking lot. The interior design of the new center includes “up-cycling” the 1950’s gymnasium floor of the existing Sevier Center, which is removed and reinstalled as wall panels in the lobby. The building design is integrated into the sloping site by having a “split level” main floor, with entries from the low south side into a lower lobby area and entries from the high north side where the parking lot is located. The upper entry includes the Staff Control Desk, Fitness Room, Locker Rooms and Multi-purpose Meeting Room. The lower entry level includes the Game Room, Gymnasium, Staff Offices and an exterior terrace opening up to expansive views along the southern edge. The second floor program includes the Track and Dance Room.
